New Year's Goals and Intentions 2017

I'm eleven days into the new year and haven't posted yet. Decided to do it today. Here are my intentions and goals for this year:

Take better care of my elderly parent's health and my own.

Do things that need to be done or taken care of without thinking or getting frustrated that it's infringing on my personal time.

Keep my blogs up to date.

Work on my fiction writing more.

Try to read more books.

My Reaction to the Election 2016

It’s taken me awhile to work through the emotions after the election on Nov. 8. Like many people I’ve been on an emotional rollercoaster. Shocked. Stunned. Fear. Anger. After working through all these emotions, I’ve settled on anger. I hate the idea of Donald Trump as president, but have accepted the election results. Here are my thoughts.

First, I understand the reasons why people voted for Trump. They’re tired of the stalemate and stagnation in Washington, D.C. Many feel they’re being left behind by the economy with losses of jobs, stagnating wages and no opportunity. A certain segment of people want things to go back the way they were before the Civil Rights era. Others just didn’t want another Clinton in office. Some people are just miserable in their lives and want to spread the misery around. I’m sure there are many other reasons too.

Unfortunately, I think the people who voted for Trump are going to be very disappointed. People don’t like change, but it’s a part of life. We can’t go back to the so called good old days. Those manufacturing jobs aren’t coming back. More importantly, rich, corporate people like Trump only believe in helping their own business and social class. He doesn’t care about rest of us, the middle class, working class or poor. This can already be seen by his cabinet picks. They are all wealthy, corporate people bent on taking what they can away from everyone to line their pockets.

Either way, I’ll fight for our rights with my voice and words. My anger will remain as long as Trump is president. We can’t despair or give up. We must make our voices heard. Leave programs like social security, medicare and many others alone. We must refuse to become the wage serfs/slaves of the corporations and rich. We must not return to feudalism or fascism and let our nation turn into a plutocracy. That is not what America is.

New Year's Intentions 2016

A friend on the Internet posted that he was not going to do new year's resolutions. Instead, he is posting his intentions since resolutions fall by the wayside within the first week or month. I like this idea. So here are my intentions for 2016:

1. Work toward better health by resuming my exercise routines.

2. Keep my blogs up to date on a regular basis.

3. Get necessary things done in a timely manner.

4. Work more on my writing.

5. Try to read more books.

Summer Time Blues

When you work for a school district, I love the summer vacation. Get time to do plenty of things like my writing and reading. Next week I return to work for the new school year, so summer vacation is over, hence the summer time blues. I love my job, but it's hard going back to work after the long break. Yuck!

My Writing Experiment

This summer I decided on trying to increase my writing productivity. I bought the voice recognition software Dragon Naturally Speaking to help me. I’m old school as a writer. I write my stuff down on paper first. I can’t compose stories to a blank computer screen no matter how hard I’ve tried. Revise yes, write no. Since I began writing in 1987, most of my writing is in notebooks, which I later typed into the word processor documents. With Dragon Dictate, I feel I can read the stuff from my notebooks faster than typing. So far, I’m in a learning curve with the program. I’ll let people know how it’s going and if it helped in future posts. Keep writing until then.

Summer Vacation

My last day of work for the summer was today. The students are gone and I'm off for two months. I plan on embarking on my writing. Want to get it going. Here's to summer.

RIP Tanith Lee

Fantasy author Tanith Lee has passed away. She was a great writer with many entertaining, lovely stories.

A quote from her writings found on her web site is very appropriate.

A quote from Tanith Lee's writing found on her web site: “Though we come and go, and pass into the shadows, where we leave behind us stories told – on paper, on the wings of butterflies, on the wind, on the hearts of others – there we are remembered, there we work magic and great change – passing on the fire like a torch – forever and forever. Till the sky falls, and all things are flawless and need no words at all.”

Rest in Peace Leonard Nimoy

I was sorry to hear of the passing of Leonard Nimoy today. I loved him as Spock from "Star Trek" and the character he played in "Fringe." He left his mark on the world. My deepest sympathy to his family for their loss. May he never be forgotten.

I've been getting a little frustrated lately with little things piling up and needing to get done. I no sooner finish some things then some other little crappy things spring up. Feels like I never get stuff done or have time for my self. Sigh! This to shall pass.

Goals for 2015

Back again for my second day. I thought over my goals I want to accomplish for this year. Here they are.

1. Publish my book of short stories.
2. Keep my blogs and Newsletter on time and up to date.

Hope I get them done.
